Yesterday, while flipping through the fabulous April issue of Living Etc. (the same issue with this story by James Merrell), we were delighted to see an ad for Bo Concept shot by Lajos Geenen! The ads are running internationally, so we're excited to see what other magazines they pop up in!

James Merrell has a beautiful story in the April issue of Living Etc.! When I finally get around to building that dream home some day, I think I'll decorate each room after a different James Merrell story--this one included!

Do you feel it? Everyone in the industry certainly does! Heck, it seems that everyone in the world is talking about the return of Mad Men. To get into the spirit and add to the excitement and anticipation for Sunday's big premier, we decided that for this photo phriday we would share some of David Sykes' images that have a real Don Draper feel!

Happy Friday! We hope wherever you watch the premier you enjoy yourself a nice scotch. (And the show.)

Travel + Leisure's Best of Europe issue is on stands now, and features a cover and story by Marcus Nilsson (in addition to two stories by James Merrell!). Marcus' cover shows the Nyhavn Canal in Copenhagen, and the feature story is an insider's guide to making a "foodie pilgrimage" to Copenhagen. This issue is jam-packed with awesome travel tips and, of course, beautiful photos!

Frank Herholdt won the Press Award at the 6th Annual Arte Lunga awards! The awards were held in Venice, Italy at the Nappe of the Arsenale of Venice attracting established critics, curators, directors, foundations and art lovers from all over the world! According to the italian art news blog "Artribune" this year was the largest showing at Arte Lunga, which has developed into an "international competition dedicated to the latest trends in visual arts." Frank recieved the award for his image entitled "Morris Minor" which we have included below:

Looking to go to Paris? Well, you're in luck! The story "17 Paris Finds" in the April issue of Travel + Leisure sheds some light onto the perpetual question of "where to stay?" in the City of Lights. The hotels featured in the story are supposed to provide visitors with with a genuine "neighborhood" feel making them feel more like "locals". JMI's James Merrell hopped on the train to Paris and spent a few days photographing some of these amazing locations! Take a look!

Surprise! James has not only one story in the magazine out this month but he actually has two! He photographed the "Smart Guide to London"! It's an exciting time in London right now with the upcoming Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Living in London, James really knows the "important places" around the city! You don't want to miss these beautifully captured images... but we have to leave some suspense...go grab the magazine!

Happy Friday!

This week for Photo Phriday we decided instead of picking one particular image or photographer to feature we would highlight a blog that always promises an interesting read and features wonderful imagery and photographers. It's a well known publication. Maybe you've heard of it, The New Yorker?

Having an article published in The New Yorker can be one of the greatest honors as a writer/journalist. The articles, stories, features, exposes and...let's not forget the cartoons are all crafted with immense care and thought. Similarly, their "Photo Booth" blog takes the photography selections as seriously.

The "view from The New Yorker's Photo Department" as the blog describes itself is constantly being updated with the images from the magazine as well as ones that are not included in the magazine.

Amongst my favorite entries in the last few days features photographer Brian Finke's Atlantic Adventure. It chronicles the Talisker Whiskey Challenge, a 2,900 mile rowing race in the Atlantic.

When you have a free moment, head over to the Photo Booth site. In the blog world, a lot of people try to be on the forefront of finding the next great blog! Sometimes the great ones are sitting right in front of you...and it's important to remember that they are well known for a reason!

If you don't already read Natalie Walton's blog Daily Imprint, you really should go over to her website and have a read. Today in particuar would be a great day to do so because she just published an interview with JMI photographer Hugh Stewart! Walton asks Hugh a variety of questions to give people a better idea of who he is as a photographer and what his interests are. Read the question and answer that I think best highlights Hugh's great humor as well as passion for photography. It also happened to be a story I hadn't ever heard! To read the interview in its intirety, click here!

"What’s your proudest career achievement? I don’t know, but I remember a defining moment. I had shot my first big story for British Vogue on the Baftas with Fiona Golfar. And I had to meet Alexandra Shulman, the editor, at the Wolseley to show her the proof sheets. I was so nervous I almost had a panic attack. I was shaking and had to tell her I had food poisoning so might have to leave at any minute. Lucky she is used to dealing with weird Englishmen so a nervous shaking New Zealander did not faze her. She loved the images and ran them over 20 pages...." (more of the answer on dailyimprint.blogspot.com)

Last night I made a trip westward-- to the westside highway, that is. This week Pier 92 and 94 are home to one of the most important art fairs in New York, and the world: The Armory Show. The Armory show draws leading galleries from around the world to display some of the most notable contemporary and modern art, all for sale! Since my bank account can't quite support a Salvador Dalí, I went more to window shop.

The show itself is huge. It is split into two parts, modern and contemporary, and each side feels like its own museum full of mini galleries. The pieces ranged from paitings to sculpture to photography to performace. What makes the Armory show different from strolling through the MoMA is that the gallerists are there to tell you about each piece. They were all very pleasant and eager to chat, even knowing they wouldn't make a comission from me! Many of them gave out catalogs and posters and even pieces of installations!

The show is open through Sunday, and you can get tickets here. Below are just a few of my favorites!

How do you think they shipped all this stuff from around the world?! That's a lot of bubble wrap...
